Virtual Uplifting Party in support of Julliette's Place on Wednesday August 19th, 2020
Please join us for our Virtual Uplifting Party!
Wednesday August 19th, 2020 – see schedule below
Please click the link below to join the webinar:
It will also be live streamed to Facebook
We hope you’ll join us for a fun-filled event featuring exciting presenters! Over the course of the day, you’ll be able to listen, learn and participate - all while raising funds and awareness for women and children who have experienced violence and are living at our local women’s shelter, Julliette’s Place.
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic created a “perfect storm” for domestic violence to increase. Physical distancing means some women have been in the presence of their abusers 24/7 when stress and worry have been at an all-time high. For some, job loss and economic uncertainty has created even more volatile circumstances at home. There are also fewer ways out of these dangerous situations. Where once a woman could call a crisis line while her partner was at work, now these life-saving calls are made while an abuser sleeps in the next room. Bottom line? Our shelter needs our help now more than ever.
Our Virtual Uplifting Party is how we plan to make a difference. Together, we’ll raise critical funds, while lifting each others’ spirits and learning from our team of experts!
Uplifting Party Agenda
9:00 am Physiotherapist Penny Lee
Penny has over 20 years of experience in many settings including hospitals, private clinics, and as the head therapist for varsity basketball and ice hockey teams. Currently, Penny is practicing from her home clinic at Port Union and Lawrence in East Toronto.
She will demonstrate some simple exercises that you can do at home without special equipment to relieve stress and increase strength.
Penny’s treatment approach includes manual therapy, exercise, acupuncture, shock wave therapy, cupping, fascial abrasion and education. Other services include protective taping, breathing (capnography) and posture analysis and ergonomics. Penny has kept her practice small and exclusive.
